Pan Mee @ Old Klang Road

Me and Ma Man's favourite Pan Mee stall
Is the one located by the roadside of Old Klang Road
It is right next to all those drinking pubs of the Scott Garden
But beware that it is not towards the famous Bak Kut Teh stall,
which has been thrown sh*t by unknown for several times.
It is located at another side where there is one AmBank Branch nearby.

I often ask myself one question
Why would I not love other more famous pan mee shop but only this shop?
I am sure that there are hell lots of famous pan mee shop outside
Few examples would be the chilli pan mee or the franchise mian-dui-mian
Honestly speaking, I have no idea
But if I were to give a reason,
I would say it is the package this stall offers that makes me fall deep in love.

But, what is included in my so-called of package?
Red bean soup
Not an ordinary red bean soup,
but is the one added with dried mandarin peel
This dried mandarin peel sort of changes the whole world of red bean soup
Just like when a princess meet her prince
the romantism adds to the dull life of a princess
the mandarin peel gives it a taste of sourness that adds perfectly to the sweetness of the red bean soup
Perfect combination
More perfect that azuki bean with green tea.
But this stall offers also other home-cooked drinks
But too bad I have never tried before
as I am too into this red bean soup.

As normally this stall has lots of customers during weekend,
Hence, while waiting, we often order the home-made crispy chinese roll (Po Piah)
I am really not sure how the seller (is a pair of very cute uncle and aunty) fried this roll
But the skin of the roll seems thicker than the normal Po Piah,
and hence, after it is fried, it taste even more solid
It comes with some sweet sauce
Regarding its ingredients,
I am not quite sure because it is fully covered by the sauce
But I can still taste the mushroom due to its chewvy texture
This really suit those eaters who favor strong taste.

The third element of course is the pan mee
Honestly, the mee is abit thick and hence it is still hard even after cooked
Guess it should be thinner
But because of that, it becomes chewy
and that is the point that I like about it
And this uncle is very generous about its ingredients
There are lots of anchovies and pork meats in it
And it's spicy chilli makes me even fall into it
as I always believe that eating chilli can help to burn calories
especially after eating so much food with high carbohydrates.
Haha, chilli is my love among all spice
And this pan mee comes with right chilli that just make me sweat and melt into it.

Chicken/Pork rice @ Lai Kong, Bandar Sunway

This chicken rice shop
Is located at Bandar Sunway
operating in one of the most crowded kopitiam opposite Bandar Sunway: Lai Kong
This kopitiam is always fully seated, especially on the Wednesday night
when there is a night market held right next to it.

The food I am recommending
is its Char Siew with rice
I fall in love with this char siew rice since long long time ago
before knowing that it is actually sold in this kopitiam
Ma Man often dapao it for me as dinner
and I always referred it as "very delicious char siew"
I used to say this statement to Ma Man: I want that very delicious chat siew, can dapao back? whenever I felt like eating it
Until a day where he brought me there and ordered it for me
thats when I know this nice char siew origins from this kopitiam.

I love best about its char siew
its sweet marinated sauce,
balance in term of its meat and fat
It is so perfect
And surprisingly, I, such a chili-lover, even like to eat this without eating with the chilli provided
It just show how much I am in-love with this char siew
Honestly speaking, for me, it is so much better than the famous on at Shah Alam where that one is just too fatty and oily
But the taste of the food is always a subjective opinion
For those that really loves fatty and super sweet char siew, then Shah Alam's char siew serves its purpose.
For the rest,
steam chicken, BBQ chicken and pork are just very standard
For me, there is not much different from the rest of the stalls outside
but still Ma Man and I always ordered these four different types of chiken/pork together
so to add to its variety.

Homemade Fish Head Noodles 美味园 @ SS15

This is another dish that we often come across during rainy days
Whenever there is rainy day
We always crave for hot soup
just like how people go for steamboat when the rain is super duper heavy
But usually, steamboat will cost about more than RM20 for each person
which is a little bit too pricey for our weekday dinner
Hence, we always ended up going to this Homemade Fish Head Noodles @ SS15
to have some hot and spicy meehoon that comes with a big portion of fish
What I mean is, of course it has to come with a big portion of fish,
otherwise, how does it called itself fish noodle soup

Their famous noodle, which is within one of my must-order-list,
is this XO fried fish noodle soup.
I always like to serve it with meehoon
guess eating with meehoon I can feel less carbo
and I can end up finishing the whole bowl by myself with this kind of mindset
*not forget to mention about their big portion
Ma Man always like to try fish noodles with other cooking style,
but I always stick with this one
as usual, hot and spicy, suit me well
and what makes me fall for this soup is
I can really taste those little anchovies in my every sip of the soup
it is so lovely of them.

And the main character, the fish chunks,
as per Ma Man, they use fish from freshwater
because freshwater fish is a lot cheaper as compared to the seawater,
yet, the meat is still good
Who said one can never find good food in a cheap price
They usually serve the fried fish chunks separately from the soup
this is mainly to keep the crispness of the fish while serve
and I often keep this masterpiece of the whole dish till last
Why? I just like how I keep my mouth remain in the sea area
while all the salivation process help to remind me on the taste even after leaving the shop

Ma Man yesterday ordered a bowl of their usual fish head meehoon soup
the fish is never fried for this dish, unlike my fried fish
and as can see from the picture, the soup color is ordinary white, with no added any spicy or chilli in it
Taste wise, very milky and a little bit of sourness, which comes from the tomato and sour pickles, to open up the appetite
personally, I like my XO soup
but fish wise, I guess I really like this fresh fish head
as it contains a lot of collagen
I mean, I can really feel the collagen while eating this fish head
and this cute little fish that comes with collagen just makes me fall in love with eating fish head again
and I would definitely ask for fish head for my next visit.

*****
What we had tried previously in this restaurant
includes the asam fish meehoon and its stir fried brinjal in the hotpot
Asam fish meehoon, just like its name sounds,
taste a bit sour with its clear soup
I guess there is nothing to compare between its usual fish meehoon soup and its asam meehoon soup
It tastes a bit similar in terms of sourness and how this sourness opens up your appetite
But it taste different as its asam soup tastes lighter in terms of flavour

Stir fried brinjal in the hotpot
I would say this is another dish that I would think off whenever comes to this restaurant
This dish is the dish that I think is most worth it as per its price
Delicious?
Of course!
If Ma Man and I are craving for vegetables, we would no think twice to order this as our side dish.

Brunch @ Antipodean KL

Yesterday was a special day for both of us.
Finally we have settled our contract with the lawyer
After coming down from the lawyer firm, which is located at KL,
we came across this restaurant called Antipodean
I was so happy
I always wanted to have a try because it is so famous
Yet, due to the man living together with me always cooks me big breakie during Sunday and claims that he can cook as delicious as the outside restaurant
I have stopped asking him to go out for brunch ever since I graduated from Australia,
which is officially a year ago.

And regardless of that, God just proved to me that I had fate with this restaurant
To celebrate, Ma Man suggested to give it a try
We ordered a set of Egg Benedict with Bacon,
A set of Big breakfast,
A cup of cappuccino
And surprisingly it is not as expensive as I thought

Egg Benedict is always one of dishes in my must-order-list whenever I go for brunch
And often people do not realize that bread is the main point of the whole dish
From my point of view, irregardless of what ingredient you mix it in between eggs and bread,
as long as you serve it for the right taste,
the taste of the bread will then decide the overall score for the dish
This restaurant serve it with the wholemeal bread
I would say it is so awesome
The bread is perfect
It was a bit crunchy, not to say hard,
but it manages to balance out the Yin and Yang of the food perfectly
because of the sauce and egg were managed to be captured by the bread,
and yet, it did not turn out to be too soggy
One extra point given is because the bacon was not too salty
Honestly speaking, I hate bacon because of its saltiness
but Ma Man is totally the opposite of me.

Cappuccino is good too
I thought I were at Australia when I took a sip of it
On the other hand, big breakfast is not my cup of tea honestly
because I love everything to come with theme
When big breakfast contains everything
that's why it is themed as big breakfast
on the other hand, for me, it is themed at nothing.
But, what I would say is
each individual component is cooked nicely,
especially the oven-baked white button mushroom is very fresh,
even though I do not quite like it for its saltiness

We were so full after eating all these
and both of us skipped our lunch for dinner straight.
Whats a lovely Friday brunch! Full of satisfaction!
